Vitré

This medieval city, residence of cobbled walkways, barony, and olde worlde enchantment, is a destination back in time, from timber-framed 15th century porch houses, the castle of the long-ago Vitré Barons, the gothic Notre Dame and neo-Romanesque Saint Martin churches, to the Sacred Art exhibition and rural heritage museum.

The antiquity of Vitré is complemented by the timeless splendour of the Pré des Lavandières(washerwomens' meadow), and its location close to the city centre, but within the natural landscape on the banks of the Vilaine river, make it the ideal locale from which to admire the walled city.
